so...i'm stayin with my parents for a couple days. sat with my dad through chemo, and trying to help my Mom who is also very ill. showin up and being of service as much as possible....while all the time surrounded by pain medication. bottles of percocets all over the house...and yesterday they asked me to go to the doc office to pic up a script. when i looked down, it was for morphine sulphate. now, a few years ago, i'd have taken that script, filled it, and disappeared.

the simple fact that it has absolutely no power over me today....is all God. on my own will...its impossible. through the grace of God, anything is possible.

this is amazing. i even googled morphine sulphate to see if you can IV it. Janice, you're right where you need to be. your life is a great example.

of course, being able to resist using in such an extreme circumstance is awesome. but after listening to your entire story, i'm in awe of your ability to forgive. much love.

it's God. I take credit for none of it, and am grateful for all of it.

    wicked awesome.

(and...thanks to all my friends here for your continued support during this difficult time...)

    Carol -
I completely understand your trepidation....its healthy and sane. I had it too, and shared what was going on with a few people.

but, as you know...we have no mental defense against the first drug. for addicts like me 'keeping my memory green' doesn't work. My strength must come from a power greater than myself.

it does...and did. it can for you as well.

God could and would if he were sought (over and over again).

as the 10th step promises state: 'The problem has been removed'. 'We have been placed in a position of neutrality....safe and protected.'

you ARE safe and protected. know that.

    much respect

When you plant lettuce, if it does not grow well, you don't blame the lettuce. You look for reasons it is not doing well. It may need fertilizer, or more water, or less sun. You never blame the lettuce. Yet if we have problems with our friends or family, we blame the other person. But if we know how to take care of them, they will grow well, like the lettuce.

Blaming has no positive effect at all, nor does trying to persuade using reason and arguments.

That is my experience. No blame, no reasoning, no argument, just understanding.

TNH is so wise. I love the way he talks about relationships. He says to go to your loved one when you are hurt and say, "Darling, I suffer."

It's the "darling" part that takes care of the lettuce.

    Thanks, J. --G
