Its been a while since I posted on my thread.....lots going on in my life.....I continue to put recovery first but there have been some days when I bring out that dreaded measuring stick and feel as if I should be doing it better..... my sponsor reminds me that I am only human and its okay to flounder some days as long as I dont find the solution to my problems in the bottom of a pill bottle or in any other substance that could trick me in to thinking things are just to bad to face clean....I continue to ask my HP for guidance and I know in my heart that all I can do is prepare for each day....God has the plan....lordy...lordy sometimes I just want to know what in the world IS THE PLAN?!?!?! So that being said, I have been spending lots of time reminding myself to take God with me each day.....its real easy to be grateful when things are going well...the challenge lies keeping that gratitude when the road gets rocky......I am so thankful that TODAY I dont have to use....no matter what!!!! Happy New Year to all my ODR friends!!!!!

Just a quick post.....getting ready to leave town with my sister to go be of service to my other sister who will have surgery this afternoon to remove a very large growth on her ovary....the Doc is pretty sure its a cyst and not cancerous, but they wont know till they get it out and run the necessary tests. After shes all healed up they will have to do surgery again....seems the wall of her aorta is thinning which is causing it to swell....if its not corrected we all know what could happen.....she actually went to see the heart surgeon because this had been detected by her Doc. here in town and they discovered the cyst.....I am so grateful that I can be there for her....Today I can pack my bags and go anywhere at any time without having to worry about having enough of my DOC to get me through each day.....thats just one of the gifts of recovery.....Please keep my family in your thoughts....I'll let yall know how it turns out....

Much love to all my ODR friends...... Carol

Just need to write......to remind myself that I am not in control and no matter how much I want to make life for my father better....less painful...less sad....he is on his own journey and I am on mine....they overlap, but I have to work really hard not to internalize his pain and make it mine......ya know, my head tells me all these things but it s so hard to get my heart to go along....watching him deteriorate so quickly over the last couple of weeks is one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do......I tell myself...be grateful...you are present....you do the best you can everyday to make sure he has what he needs....but....my heart is breaking.......powerlessness is a real B****......last nite, I gave a good friend of mine her 19 year medallion.....thank god for the people in my life today that have shown me through their actions that I dont have to use NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!

    Much love to all..... Carol

Teach, needed to hear this today... I am stuck somehow and don't know how. I think ^this is part of it...

I know how you feel though. Took care of both my parents. It's a miracle today that you're doing this and being available and a loving witness, and not using. Love you. --G
