Welcome back... I know I would love to hear about it. Sounds like it wasn't good but the main thing is if your clean and happy today? IF not, is there anything We can do to help? If so.... then CONGraTs to you. There are many ways to get there but as long as you got there is what is most important.

Everyone is different but in working in the field directly with rapid detox patients and seeing multiple success Im so sorry your experience was not a positive one.

I never met anyone that did urod and said they would suggest it. But we are all different, your right. At least they are not putting one on sub as they walk out the door.

I went through rapid detox twice: 2002 and 2008. Both times I relapsed within 6 months.
The first time around I was sent home after three days without a plan of action to remain sober. The second time I was sent to a facility for a week to "recover". Talked with a therapist by phone once a week for about a month.
No horror stories either time, as a matter of fact, the second time was quite pleasant ( or at least the week I spent in aftercare ).
My problem was it wasn't enough. I needed a plan of action to not go back to using.
Now here I am yet again four years later. Trying to do things different this time.

Sorry I haven't replied till now but, wasn't in a position to do so.

I will have to make it brief for now but, here goes. I was on 100 mg methadone and using heroin for many yrs before I finally thought I should go for the rapid detox. I was given 100mg ms contin for 5 days before the "procedure" on a Wed. I knew I would be sick after and the doctor said that I would be dancing by Friday. I knew that wasn't true and expeted to be sick for a week or 10 days despite him saying "flu like symptoms for a few days". He should have put me on morphine until the methadone was out of my system but then I probably wouldn't have paid the $5K for the "treatment". Well, I woke up in full on withdrawal after only 2 hrs under with propfol. I was sent home an hour later in a snow storm but they were kind enough to give me something for the shits. (the least of my problems) I couldn't move my head 1/4 inch or I would vomit X Files black tar from the pit of my stomache or wherever. I couldn't see for at least 3 weeks and gave it a fighting try as I felt this was my last resort. I had no choice but to go back to heroin at the time. I was then given Subutex which was on a trial basis in Canada. It was working miracles but my doctor ran out of sample packs when I was just two weeks from the finish line. I guess he couldn't put two boxes aside for me. I was on 2mg per day at the time. I was then prescribed 1200 mg of ms contin daily because I refused to go back on methadone. Long story longer, I am now prescribed 600 mg morphine sulphate per day and using herion daily. Down to 1/4 gram per hit but was up to 1/2 gram 3 times per day at one point. I know that I can stop using if I just took the morphine but I can't get past the psycological routine of the day.
Well, that's a portion of what happened to me. I was warned not to do it but listened to my doctor of 8 yrs. I'm not a violent person but I would have killed them all and then myself given a chance after waking up in that condition and with NO help whatsoever. My wife came in and was then told to take me home. If anyone is thinking of doing this "rapid detox" I would say run for the hills but listen. I didn't...
