In recovery have to maintain my annoyminty because I can't deal with the gossip and lies that haters will do. To undermine my clean time. I have over 20 yrs. Is there any place or help that so.done can give please.

You dont say how big your dose is, but regardless, it's very hard to cold turkey off methadone. You will have a better chance at it if you taper down very low first before stopping.

I read your other post where people were talking about detoxing from heroin in a few days by using methadone. That is a whole different thing.
You are trying to get off long term use of methadone meaning that you are addicted to a long acting opiate which is much different and takes longer to detox from than a shorter acting opiate such as heroin. You will need to do this gradually for best success. It sounds like you don't want your doctor to detox you. Can you go to a methadone clinic and allow them to detox you slowly?

I don't have any more meds of methadone so had to get some Percocet from someone to stave off the withdrawal. I signed an agreement to only use meds from Dr. I Was ok with that. Called and said i don't have anymore and that I did what I did. So can't get help that way by doc. Used Percocet for 3 years than switched toethodone for the past year. Don't want to go to detox for anonymity reason. I have I surance. If I go the hospital they will want to put me in the detox unit. CANT do that. Reputation on the line. My dose on pecocet was 60 mg daily the methadone pills is 40mg daily.

Well everything's a trade-off, isn't it? How are you doing today? Cold turkey off methadone has been done many times by people, so it is possible. I don't think the percs are going to do much to be honest. But, go for it! You can do it. Get your comfort meds together, get some time off if at all possible, and just plow through it. What I would hate to see you do though, is switch back over to short acting opiates again. That would defeat your purpose. Keep your thread updated and we'll read and respond.

More info like the dose your dropping off of would help. I am sure you've done your research on comfort meds to help? I hear you need to keep this under wraps but I really think your going to need someone to help you. Just for simple things like going to the store to get fresh food, fluids, etc? There are many who have detox from methadone so it is VERY possible but not sure how many were succesful doing it all alone. I think I am picking up you've had clean time in the past... do you really think no one has a clue there wasn't something amidst with you? I did one opiate or another for so many yrs and truly believed I was incognito with it. Only to find out once free of active addiction I wasn't fooling anyone who really knew me.

Anyways.... CONGRATS on desire to reclaim your life. Keep posting for help. Do your research on comfort meds that can help you. Hope to read in next few month of your success.

Just to give you some different types of chemicals/herbs to take to soften the detox of any opioid.
First ..... You have Imodium witch is an opioid, but does not cross the blood brain barrier, but does alleviate withdrawal symptoms, much more than just the diarrhea symptom.
Second ..... You have pharmaceuticals (Prescription only) that will relieve the anxious or restless feelings. These are the Benzodiazepines (Valium, Xanax, Klonopin, etc.).
Third ..... There are other pharmaceuticals (Prescription only) that work on your GABA receptors, (Gabapentin, Baclofen, Phenobarbital, and others that are coming out into public light every day).
Fourth ..... Supplements that are legal for anyone to purchase, consume and/or have with them. These also help massively with the symtoms of opioid withdrawal. (Phenibut, Picamilon, GABA, L-Theanine, "White, Blue or Red" Lotus Flower Extract, Passion Flower Extract, Valerian Root Extract, Kava Kava Extract, Ginseng.
Fifth ..... There are vitamin supplements that will also eleviate the brunt of the withdrawal symptoms. Those are, Omega Three Fatty Acids, Vitamin C, "a full spectrum of B Vitamins". It is wise to take a full spectrum multi-vitamin and mineral suppliment each and everyday. Make sure it is a natural processed supplement that has no synthetic type materials in it what so ever. (This makes a difference between, night and day).

The only other advice I could give anyone that wants to get off any and all chemicals is, "take it slowly". Once you decide to commit and get off all chemicals, make a plan. Then go about it in a slow, methodical way. You did not get to the point you are at in one year or so. You got to where you are at over many years, most likely. Take it slow and set goals that you can accomplish. It doesn't mean that you cannot push yourself once in a while. Just don't abuse yourself and get to the point where you say, you will never do that again or get off the chemicals that rule your life. Take it one day at a time and slowly reverse your situation. Try and go backwards in the same way you got into this lifestyle you are living. Start maneuvering your way out of the lifestyle you are in now.
The herbs and medacines that I put into the description above, are only there to diminish the pain and uncomfortable feelings that go along with making the decision to stop ingesting the chemicals you do every day. It does not make everything better and erase what we have to go through when we detox. I does however make it so much more bearable and when we get to the point were we feel like we can't go on, those herbs or products, just help us get through that terrible moment and let us see the rainbow on the other side. It helps just for a minute, but that sometimes is all we need to get past that point and start a new day.
I hope I have helped you or anyone that reads this. If you have any questions, please e-mail me at

Allow me a couple days to get back to you because I am very busy with the job I have now. I don't mind helping others with any addiction problem.
