The last time I was in an inpatient detox, it was for alcohol only at that time, about 2001 I think. They did their usual lab workup, and a nurse came into my room and told me my labs showed I had hep B and hep C, and that I should go to my dr. as soon as possible and get further testing. OK, so I believed I had hep B and C. I was a former IV drug user and somewhat promiscuous during those days, and many of the women I had 'associated' with were pretty promiscuous as well, so I had no reason to doubt it. Any way, the next time I go to my internal med dr. I ask for specific tests. The tests come back, and I tested negative for both B and C and HIV. The dr. look at the test from the detox. He told me that what the detox did was a generic liver function test. There are certain markers that 'indicate' the presence of B or C, and those markers are flagged in the lab results. That is not the same as a 'positive' for B or C. He said the nurse should have told me that it was likely that I had hep B and C. Maybe that's what she said, I really don't remember. All I heard was hepatitis B and hepatisis C. I've had annual tests done since. They always come back negative.
    Just my own personal experience.

That is how I got hep c is by using a needle after this chick and I used bleach twice actaully before I used her rig. I was doing coke at the time and really didn't care about much except that next rush but looking back it was the stupidest thing I could have done. I fould out I had it the day I went to rehab, that was 2 years ago and I haven't done anything about it. What are my options? I don't have thousands of dollars to spend and have no insurance. What am I supposed to do?

My best friend and I shared needles all the time. We both thought we were clean because we had been tested awhile back. Then two months ago she was sent to prison for four years and she found out she has hep-c. I'm sure I have it but im scared to death to get tested. Where do you get tested? I have been clean for four days no detox this time Im doing it at my parents house but Im scared to be tested because of how weak im feeling about staying clean. What should I do?
